Hey Pythonista,

We ran a poll in our community recently asking what people wanted to hear more of in our emails and communications. There was mention of hearing more of the behind the scenes at Pybites, so I wanted to share this story of us eating our dog food (not actual dog food, just practicing what we preach!).

A few months ago we launched our Python cohort program to great success (i.e.: > 0 participants 😆).

People in the cohort meshed well, joined the group calls, shared wins, and asked questions in the group space. The formula we'd come up with was proving effective and yielding results. We were chuffed!

Fast forward a few months and we've noticed something quite interesting:

The cohort program works brilliantly regardless of whether you're actually in a cohort or not!

Participants haven't needed people to be at the same point in the program as them. It's worked extremely well being self-paced. From a "group" perspective, the group coaching call, a community to ask questions in, and code review feedback has been enough.

This means that our "cohort" program, works just fine as a self-paced online program where everyone is progressing on their own timeline for 6-weeks.

As a result, people can now sign up and start whenever they want without needing to wait for a specific cohort start date!

So how did we eat our own dog food?

  1. What gets measured, gets managed

Regardless of where this quote came from, it's helped remind us to measure results regularly. In this case, capturing feedback, measuring attendance, posts, and other engagement metrics allowed us to catch this detail.

  2. Implement and iterate quickly

We built the cohort program extremely quickly. I think it took 1-2 months to build and ship it. Then, per our general coaching guidance, iterate quickly. We took our learnings after shipping quickly and are iterating on the program based on those findings.

I love that the application of these principles we teach our developers is applicable in a non-coding scenario.

With all of this said, our "cohort" program has evolved, and we're excited to share that you can now enrol instantly, whenever suits you.

Learn more and enrol in the program using the link below.

Cheers,

Julian

P.S.: Here's what some of the first participants of the cohort had to say:

Ben G: “Over six weeks, I shipped a full Python app while sharpening my skills in FastAPI, SQLModel, testing, and deployment.”

Rahul M: “This program taught me to build, package, and deploy production-grade apps—code I’m proud to share.”

Kishan P: “In just six weeks, I completed more of a real project than ever before thanks to the accountability and momentum of the cohort.”
