Lessons Learned from 8 Years of Pybites

Hey Pythonista,

Today we celebrate 8 years of Pybites!

date(2016, 12, 19) we decided to take action, and it has been an incredible 8 year journey.

Here are some things we've learned along the way:

  • Perfection never comes, just get started. We started with a blog, built a platform, and started coaching. None of that was planned, it all happened iterating.

  • Don't let Imposter Syndrome hold you back. Even after all these years, every new thing we do comes with fear and self-doubt and that's ok. It keeps you on your toes and humble.

  • Community! It's one of Python's core features and I think we've adopted this well. You don't have all the answers, bring people together and amazing things will happen.

  • Don't be afraid of starting over. We've rebuilt the website, our platform, our community, and every time we had to learn new tools and accept we lost something in return for a long-term benefit.

  • Learn new things. This space moves fast. AI came around and is here to stay. New frameworks and tools are released every week. As a balance to that though there are only a handful of tools that will make you very productive, so don't fall into shiny new object syndrome.

  • The choice is yours. In every situation, you have a choice in how you respond and what you do next. This reality leaves very little room for excuses on things like lack of growth and progress.

  • Making time for people is never a waste of time. If you have a chance to meet with someone or not, always take the time to connect. Friendships and human connection are what life is all about. The opportunities for happiness are endless when you make time to really know people.

  • Persistence and Determination. It's true, these are the only two traits you need for success. The hard work will always pay off when you keep at it and refuse to give up.

There are many moments and statistics that we'd love to share with you as well, but this email would go on forever. Instead, click the link below to check out a post we made on LinkedIn where we share even more interesting anecdotes!

Thanks for a wonderful 8 years, especially those of you that have been here from the start.

We look forward to serving for another n years!

Code Over the Holidays

While we promote taking a break, there's nothing wrong with having some fun with the occasional coding exercise over the holidays. (Bob says you should be coding daily on the holidays, but I'll fight him on this!).

Click the link below and get your daily/non-daily coding in!
