A powerful career transformation story 🚀 |
First of all, big shout-out to Rodrigo Medeiros for landing a dev job abroad.
> ... And today, after some freelance work and other experiences, I finally got a full-time position as a developer at a North American company. I'm very happy and feel like I've finally reached this milestone after years. Now I just need to move forward, keep studying and dedicating myself.
The reason we want to highlight this big win is that Rodrigo worked 5 years on his big goal, and it went with many ups and downs. In addition to our platform and coaching, it was a relentless mindset of putting in continuous effort and persistence when the going got tough that got him there.
So, kudos Rodrigo, we're really proud to see how far you've come!
This is timely news as well given the topic of our latest podcast episode:
187: Beyond the resume - how to stand out in the competitive world of tech
And speaking of the inevitable obstacles we will all find, this is a must-read stoic resource: The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday
Finally, you also cannot miss this career staple book:
So Good They Can't Ignore You Cal Newport

Polars - a fast + elegant Pandas alternative |
Torben Windler is in the business of making data pipelines 100x faster with Polars 🐻❄️ 🤯
That's quite a claim and it piqued our interest so we invited him to present at our PDM code clinic last week.
We now understand the saying: "I came for the speed, but stayed for the syntax" 📈 because this Rust-powered tool is not only very 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁, but its design is also 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 😍
Have you made the switch from Pandas to Polars? Let us know...

That's what I will teach you + coach you on in our upcoming 6-week cohort coaching programs next month.
As you can see below, we'll build something fun and relevant and we're passionate to have people reach a level where they will:

Code reading 💪
Great reminder by @mathsppblog
If you're not regularly diving into a piece of Python code, do yourself a favor this week and do so, then hit reply and let us know, or make a post in our community about it.
We even made a little tool to make this easier:
uv tool install pybites-pysource uv run pysource -m tempfile |vi -
And keep your eyes open for our next Code Reading Club Session!

This week we'll defer to Fay Shaw for some terrible and hilarious DS jokes, here is one:
